Public holidays aren’t built in. Add the ones that apply to you.
How do I count business days between two dates?
Count the days between the two dates and leave out weekend days and any holidays you add. Monday 5 to Friday 9 October 2026 is 4 business days, or 5 if the end date counts. To find a deadline, adding 10 business days to Monday 5 October 2026 gives Monday 19 October.
- Choose “Count between dates” or “Add or subtract days”.
- Enter the dates, or a start date, a number of working days and whether to count after or before it.
- Set your non-working weekdays and add any holidays or days off. Read the working days, or the resulting date.

Key features
Your weekend, not one country’s
Saturday and Sunday by default; choose any days, such as Friday and Saturday, or Sunday only.
Your holidays
Add the public holidays, office closures or leave days that apply to you. No national calendar is built in, so nothing is assumed.
Count or add
Count working days between two dates, or find the date a number of working days before or after a start date.
End date included or not
Choose whether the last day counts, the same convention as the Date Difference Calculator.
Common uses
- Work out a delivery date or a contract deadline in working days
- Count the working days in a month for a timesheet or payroll
- Plan leave or a project around holidays
Why holidays have to be added by you
Public holidays differ by country, by region within a country, and by employer, and some move every year. A built-in list would be wrong for many people, so this calculator counts only the weekend days you choose and the dates you exclude. Excluded dates that fall on a weekend day aren’t subtracted twice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the start date counted?
When counting between dates, yes: the range starts on the start date. When adding working days, no: one business day after a Friday is the next Monday, as deadlines are usually counted.
What is the difference from the Date Difference Calculator?
The Date Difference Calculator gives the total time between dates, including Monday-to-Friday weekdays. This one lets you choose the weekend days, subtract holidays and add working days to a date.
Are business days the same as working days?
Usually, yes: both mean the days a business normally operates, which is Monday to Friday in many countries. Your contract or the rules you follow may define them differently.
