HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert iPhone and iPad HEIC photos to JPG, the format every website and computer opens. Works in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Runs in your browser. Your data is not uploaded. How our tools work

Note:
Works in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac, which can open HEIC photos. Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Windows, Android and Mac can’t open HEIC yet; there, share the photo from your iPhone as JPG instead.

At 90% or more, most images look the same as the original.

Background for transparent areas

JPG can’t store transparency, so transparent areas get this colour.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Open this page in Safari 17 or later on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, choose your HEIC photos, and each one is converted to JPG at 92% quality. Download them one by one or all at once. Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a computer or Android phone can’t open HEIC, so there, share the photo as JPG from your iPhone.

  1. Open this page in Safari 17 or later on an iPhone, iPad or Mac.
  2. Optionally set the JPG quality. 92% keeps photos looking the same as the original.
  3. Select or drop one or more HEIC photos. Each is converted as soon as it is added, ready to download one by one or as a ZIP file.

Browsers

Why HEIC, and how to avoid it

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default because it takes less space than JPG at similar quality. Many websites, forms and computers still can’t open it.

To get JPGs from the start, set Settings › Camera › Formats to “Most Compatible” on your iPhone. Photos you have already taken stay HEIC, which is what this tool is for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t this work in Chrome?

Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a computer or Android phone can’t decode HEIC photos, and this tool uses your browser’s own decoder so nothing has to be uploaded. Open the page in Safari, or share the photo as JPG from your iPhone.

Will the JPG be larger than the HEIC?

Usually yes. HEIC is a more efficient format, so the same photo as JPG takes more space. To make it smaller, run the JPG through the image compressor.

Are Live Photos kept?

Only the still image is converted. The short video part of a Live Photo is not included in the JPG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in Safari on your device, and nothing is sent to a server.
